Industrial robots are commonplace now, but new applications for robotics are popping up all the time. Micro-robotics researcher and Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Sarah Bergbreiter of the University of Maryland spoke in August at the Singularity University South Africa summit about the future of robots and how industry members might be able to take advantage of current trends. Her talk includes four-legged robots that can climb fences, as well as robot hands that can pick up objects of a variety of shapes and textures. The video is relatively long, at about half an hour, but if you have some time it might be a good look at the industry.
