Surface-mount Infrared Sensors

Miniature OP2XX Series surface-mount infrared LEDs and OP5XX Series phototransistors are well suited for sensing applications in portable electronics, appliances, automotive, and industrial systems. The 0805, 1206 and PLCC (plastic leadless chip carrier) devices are compatible with automated surface-mount placement equipment. The line includes the OP200 and OP250 high-power IR LEDs in 0805 and 1206 packages, the OP520 NPN silicon phototransistors in 1206 packages, the OP270 narrow beam IR LEDs in 1.9 mm packages, and the OP570 narrow beam NPN silicon phototransistors in 1.9 mm packages. OP280 wide beam IR LEDs in PLCC and OP580 wide beam NPN silicon phototransistors in PLCC packaging are also available. The surface-mount IR LEDs are GaAlAs.LEDs (880 nm wavelength), with 30 V reverse voltage, 1.5 V forward voltage, 50mA continuous forward current, and power dissipation of 130 mW at 25°C. The surface-mount silicon phototransistors are NPN devices with a collector-emitter voltage of 30 V, emitter-collector voltage of 5 V, collector current of 20 mA, and power dissipation of 75 mW at 25°C. All units can withstand 260°C lead-free soldering processes and are rated for operation from -25° to +85°C. Pricing for the OP2XX and OP5XX sensors begins at $0.21 each in quantities of 1,000 pieces.
