OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has announced the arrival of Diamond DRAGON, a new super-bright LED set to launch in January 2008. According to the company, the Diamond DRAGON is capable of achieving brightness up to 250 lumens and will be available in whites ranging from 2700K through 6500K—as well as all monochromatic colors. Additional product features include:
  • An Rth = 2.5 K/W thermal resistance.
  • A 175° C maximum junction temperature.
  • The ability to withstand high drive currents without damage.
  • A typical (binning) current of 1.4 amps—with a maximum current of 2.0 amps.
  • A typical expected lifetime of 50,000 hours.
  • A silicone lens and SMT compliance.
  • A rating for 5 to 8 W input power.
