Split Pillow Blocks With Two-piece Assemblies

SKF Type SAF split pillow blocks are built to provide easy alignment and installation, proper bearing lubrication, and long bearing life. These two-piece assemblies mount quickly to shafts and can accommodate heavy radial loads. Suitable applications include fans and blowers, conveyors, and equipment used in mining, rock and cement processing, paper, steel, and metalworking industries. SAF inch series split pillow blocks feature self-aligning ball bearings, spherical roller bearings, or CARB toroidal roller bearings lubricated with grease or oil. Cast iron or ductile iron housings can mount on shafts in sizes from 1-3/16 to 10-1/2 in. Engineers can choose standard PosiTrac seals, PosiTrac Plus contact seals, taconite seals, and end plugs. The device incorporates housing bases, which are reinforced for enhanced attachment bolt support and improved radial load support. Caps and bases are match marked for ease of assembly. Two- and four-bolt base mounting slots are available for attaching SAF housings to an application. Additional features include cast-in centerlines and optimized foot geometry for simple mounting and alignment. Flats provide room so users can attach auxiliary equipment, such as condition monitoring devices. Dimples offer guides for dowel-pin drilling and other operations, and threaded bases for cap bolts eliminate the need for nuts when joining the two-piece assembly. Engineers can determine when the proper amount of grease has been applied via cast-in grease level indicators. A directional grease guiding system channels grease during re-greasing into the rolling elements of the bearings. A grease nipple kit is provided with each housing.
