Splicer Tension Controller

Multi-function SteadyWeb splicer tension controllers automate a flying splice sequence while maintaining a preset tension setting for continuous web processes using electric clutches or ac/dc motor drives on a turret rewind station.

With advanced tension PID circuitry, core speed matching controls, flying-splice sequencing circuitry, and a user-friendly interface, the controller reduces waste during starts, stops, and splicing to ensure consistent roll quality on a rewind. Tension transducers measure web tension and display it on an analog meter that reads actual tension. The tension is maintained automatically regardless of changes in web speed and roll diameter once the operator has set a desired tension value. A tracking circuit allows bumpless switching between auto and manual drive modes.
