Scaleable Din Rail-mount Temperature Controller

The RFS is designed for panel mounting and has no integral display. Parameters are accessed via a Modbus RS485 network. The RFS is suitable for temperature control in plastic extruders, injection hot runners, small ovens, refrigeration and food and brewing applications. It allows for exact scalability without the wiring expense typically found in other Din rail-mount temperature controllers. These savings are accomplished through a modular bus cable that provides for power, field communications, and coordination with the common I/O unit. The temperature controller offers two control outputs. The universal thermocouple or RTD input is coupled with a responsive Smart continuous auto-tuning PID control algorithm. Synchronized pre-heating eliminates differential heating during start-up due to different heating rates of individual heaters. To reduce electrical loading, the sequence of the RFS control outputs is scheduled according to the selected Modbus address, reducing maximum star-tup currents. To maximize the Modbus data transfer rates between the RFS and the operator station or the programmable controller, important operating parameters are grouped. The RFS is able to communicate relevant parameter information with a single data request and is equipped with an RS485 driver that has an input impedance four times higher than the standard, allowing up to 120 RFS units to be connected to a single master.
