Watertight Seal
The "Defender" commercial wiring harness system features An RTP 1000 Series polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) compound reinforced with glass fiber.

When a well-known national truck fleet approached Maxi-Seal Harness Systems (Grandview, MO) to design a new modular wiring harness for the underside of long-haul semi-trailer trucks, Maxi-Seal saw an opportunity to raise the bar and deliver a new level of reliability. With the help of custom compounder RTP Company (Winona, MN), Maxi-Seal developed the new "Defender" commercial wiring harness system, which offers an unprecedented 10-year warranty against leakage and corrosion, and features:

  • An RTP 1000 Series polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) compound reinforced with glass fiber for the rigid housing.
  • An RTP 1500 Series polyester thermoplastic elastomer (TEEE) compound for the flexible overmold, which forms a watertight seal.
  • Chemical and corrosion resistance while bonding.
