Company to complete cost-saving project

SERVIDYNE, INC. (Nasdaq: SERV), a building performance efficiency and real estate company, has entered into a contract for turnkey lighting retrofits at five prisons in the Southeast, which is expected to generate contract revenues of approximately $1.2 million. Servidyne was selected for this work following a comprehensive evaluation of the costs and benefits, based on detailed site surveys and engineering analyses.

These retrofits will be implemented beginning in mid-December and culminating in late spring of 2009. They are designed to dramatically cut the prisons’ utility expenses and energy consumption and reduce the amount of maintenance needed over time.

“The cost savings should pay back the entire project investment in only 2.7 years, after which time the prisons will continue to reap the benefits of significantly lower energy and maintenance costs,” explains James Dore, Vice President at Servidyne. “Lighting retrofits like these offer a great return on investment, and are often an organization’s first step in implementing a sustainability program.”

Because of the retrofits, each year the five prisons should use a total of approximately 2.95 million kWh less electricity, eliminating nearly 1.9 million pounds of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to taking 418 cars off of the road.
