The smart-reset chip features 2 inputs that can be connected to 2 of the device’s normal function buttons.
To overcome the frustration people can feel when electronic products ‘freeze’ in mid-operation, a new smart-reset chip announced by STMicroelectronics (Carrollton, TX) allows the system to be restarted safely without removing the battery or finding a tool to push the reset button, usually hidden behind a hole in the casing. Features include:
- 2 inputs that can be connected to 2 of the device’s normal function buttons.
- A reset signal.
- Programmable delay time.
- Guard against unintended resets.
- A smart-reset capability with 2 inputs.
- A 2 x 2 mm package.
- A 1-key manual reset.
