Reliable Flex Life

W. L. Gore introduces GORE FireWire High-Flex Round and Flat Cable Assemblies in order to provide motion control and vision systems with reliable flex-life performance. According to the company, these assemblies should be used to prevent lost data or data integrity issues, while also offering:

• Compliance with IEEE1394 electrical specifications—even when in motion environments.

• The maintenance of stable attenuation over flex life.

• The capacity to flex without bit errors or loss of data.

• Testing to achieve 5 million cycles in rolling flex motions on a bend radius of 50 mm and 20 million cycles on a bend radius of 20 mm with minimal changes in insertion loss and impedance, according to Gore.

• A maximum use length calculated by the attenuation value of the cable during flex.

• Stock availability of 2, 3, 4.5 and 7.7 m.

• The option to customize a FireWire cable assembly to meet specific application requirements.
