Designed to be highly durable in construction, this new line of drive components includes sprockets and blanks in plastic and stainless steel. These devices are precision-machined to perfectly fit a specified belt and are said to help extend belt life. Because it is approved for direct contact with food, the stainless steel components are ideally suited for food processing applications. Polyacetal plastic, which is also approved for food processing applications, is well suited for light loads with operating temperatures ranging from zero to 125°F. Both the stainless steel and the plastic drive components withstand abrasion, corrosion, high and low temperature variations, and other harsh conditions. Engineers can use the blanks on drives and idler shafts. When used on the same shaft with drive sprockets, blanks should have the same diameter and root diameter as the sprockets. They should also be made of the same material. Blanks can be used in other applications, such as reverse bends.
