By streamlining the design and miniaturizing the electronics, the new OCD II Profibus encoder housing is also 10 mm shorter than its earlier models.
Profibus is a widely accepted and open fieldbus standard. Riding on this standard, the new OCD II Profibus encoders from FRABA (Hamilton, NJ), extends the capabilities of the earlier POSITAL Profibus encoders while maintaining full backward compatibility. By streamlining the design and miniaturizing the electronics, the new OCD II Profibus encoder housing is also 10 mm shorter than its earlier models. Improved features include:
Enhanced DPV2 capabilities, which supports data exchange in isochronous as well as peer-to-peer communication from slave to slave.
A scaling feature where the user can set the resolution per revolution and define the total number of multi-turn increments before the count is reset to zero.
A preset function that allows the zero reference point of the encoder to coincide with the zero point of the application.
A Teach-In-Start and Teach-In-Stop command that allows the encoder to automatically calculate the measuring range of the application and then stores this information in its non-volatile memory for future operations.
2 angular positions, the upper limit and the lower limit, that can be programmed into the encoder.
