Pattern Matching Software (8273)

PatFlex is a software tool that helps vision systems locate an object, feature, or pattern whose perspective has changed or whose surface is curved, warped, wrinkled, or stretched. By finding and correcting distortions, PatFlex allows optical verification of characters marked on curved surfaces, where perspective and bow distortions are common.

It tolerates skew and aspect compression as well as distortions caused by vibrations during the marking operation. It also works to locate and inspect decorative labels on cylindrical surfaces, accounts for surface irregularities that can occur during shrink-wrap packaging, and is suited for applications where the object changes shape during production.

Part of the PatMax family of geometric pattern-finding technologies, PatFlex is available for use with Cognex's PC-based machine vision platforms, the VisionPro graphical development environment, and the Cognex Vision Library software developers' kit.
