Noninvasive Measurement

Company's liquid flow microsensors enable sensitive liquid flow measurement

The ability for thermal flow sensor microchips to measure noninvasively through the wall of a flow channel inside a microfluidic substrate, enabling sensitive liquid flow measurement and bubble detection in the microliter range.

Noninvasive liquid flow sensors from Sensirion AG offer a sensing response time of ~30 ms.

Sensirion AG (Staefa, Switzerland) offers noninvasive liquid flow sensors based on planar microfluidic substrates. According to the company, the new product exhibits:

  • The ability for thermal flow sensor microchips to measure noninvasively through the wall of a flow channel inside a microfluidic substrate, enabling sensitive liquid flow measurement and bubble detection in the microliter range.
  • A small digital CMOSens microchip bonded to the microfluidic channel substrate, housing the sensor element, digital intelligence, and memory for signal linearization, temperature compensation, and self-test algorithms.
  • An I2C interface.
  • Ability to operate over a 2.8–3.3 V supply voltage.
  • Sensing response time of ~30 ms.
  • Sensor resolutions down to 0.5 nl/min.
  • Ability for customized OEM solutions to be developed for high-volume applications.
