Multimode Mirror Switch

The QuickSwitch 6286 is a remotely controllable DB25 A/B all optical switch. Featuring fiber-optic mirror technology, the MEMS-based device provides gigabyte network switching. The signal, which is received by the unit as an optical signal over the fiber strand, is redirected by mirror mechanisms and sent out of the unit as an optical signal over a fiber strand (OOO). The QuickSwitch 6286 allows a fiber optic device connected to the unit’s SC Duplex COMMON connector to access either of the two fiber optic networks connected to the A, B ports. Engineers can change switch position either via A/B front-panel pushbuttons or by a device connected to the rear panel remote port. Applying appropriate voltage to designated pins of the remote connector also changes switch position. If power to the Model 6286 is lost, the unit will default to the A position and continue to pass data. The device’s SC duplex ports are transparent to all data, and corresponding front-panel LEDs indicate switch position. A keylock is available.
