

The IM481H PLUS microstepping driver features a new motion control chip, which is designed to add active anti-resonance, ultra smooth low-speed motion, and precise current control to the device. Measuring 1.1 x 2.7 x 0.175 in. (28 x 69 x 4.4 mm) in size, the IM481H PLUS is well suited for demanding motion control applications and drive stepping motors up to NEMA size 23. Features include short circuit and thermal protection and adjustable automatic current reduction at full step and fault outputs. This 2.1 A peak driver accepts an input voltage of 12 to 48 V. ASIC technology is said to reduce motor heating and allow engineers to use low-inductance stepper motors for increased performance and efficiency. The XIM481H offers 16 built-in microstep resolutions, ranging from full step to 51,200 steps/revolution (1.8° motor) in binary and decimal. The resolutions can be changed at any time without resetting the driver. For enhanced smoothness and positioning, engineers can use the XIM481H to replace mechanical gearing in applications that use higher step angle motors. Furthermore, the device allows engineers to precisely position the motor at the end of travel while reducing controller overhead.
