Low-tension Load Cells

LT low-tension transducers convert filament or web tension in a dc voltage proportional to tension.

The compact units are available in two mounting configuration for applications such as non-wovens winding, fiber processing, and materials processes requiring accurate tension measurement at very low levels. Load ratings are 50-2,000 g, and tension can be accurately measured on loads as low as 3 g. Typically used as part of a tension control and display system on filament processing or winding machines with cantilevered substrate carriers, the units come in stackable-housing configuration or with a threaded housing and two locking nuts. The threaded-housing version installs easily into a hole on a machine frame. Force direction can be changed simply by loosening the locking nuts and rotating the unit to a desired position. A hard-coated, durable, lightweight wheel is included for use in filament winding applications, and a special ribbon wheel and other custom wheel geometries and finishes are also available. Ultra-low breakaway torque of 1.5 g cm or 0.02 oz in. eliminates sliding or scratching of filament on the wheel.
