SMPT Series surface-mount LED devices are designed to accept flexible light pipes (FLP Series) to create a new design and installation style that will eliminate the need for through-hole PC boards typically required for installation of light pipes. The SMPT Series expands the benefits of the FLP Series two-piece flexible light pipe system, which is capable of transmitting the light from an LED to a display panel up to 100 m away. Although the original FLP Series offered an adapter for use with surface-mount LEDs, the adapter still required through holes in the PC board for mounting. The SMPT Series eliminates not only the need for through holes but also secondary post-reflow operations.
