Globe Valves Open A World Of Possibilities

Designers of high-end process applications have new options. The Type 2012 (on/off) and the Type 2712 (proportional) 2/2-way pneumatically operated globe valves offer a broad size selection, interchangeable trims, fieldbus connectivity, and multiple actuation. What does this mean for design engineers? It means more adaptability for use in those tricky mechanical or electronic control systems.

The new globe valve systems handle neutral and aggressive fluids as well as steam and gases up to 356°F. They have built-in connectivity that makes them suitable for networking in either centralized or decentralized process control systems. In addition, the valves connect directly to a range of intelligent sensors and TOP Control systems with Easy Link.

Both the Type 2012 and 2712 consist of various globe bodies such as ANSI flanges, threaded ports, and weld ends, combined with a pneumatic piston actuator. The bodies are available in all standard dimensions for easy drop-in-place replacement.

Actuator functions include spring-return normally closed, spring opening, and double acting without spring. The actuators are manufactured of PA or PPS in 1.6 to 5 in. sizes. Depending on actuator materials, standard actuator control pressure is 100-150 psi in the Type 2012 and up to 230 psi in the Type 2712.

A broad accessory program for both types allows easy upgrading to new valve characteristics. Port sizes are from 3/8 to 3 in. in diameter with custom orifices up to 4 in. in diameter. Each valve can be customized within multiple flow ranges using interchangeable seat trims available in standard, single, and double reduction.More information is available by contacting Burkert Contromatic Corp., 2602 McGaw Ave., Irvine, CA 92614 or calling (949) 223-3100.
