Based on open software architecture concepts, the Launch Control System will deploy OS/COMET® to provide a service within the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) pattern.  Using OS/COMET® as a SOA service capitalizes on its ease of configuration and efficient API interface to the LCS architecture.

“Launch control is the perfect space application for OS/COMET® and this procurement by KSC is an indication of NASA’s new direction of using COTS for the Constellation program,” says Frank Van Rensselaer, vice president and senior executive account manager, NASA Programs Harris Corporation.  “Harris has a 50-year legacy with the NASA mission to complement more than two decades of successful TT&C deployments supporting commercial and defense spacecraft.  OS/COMET® is the lowest risk COTS launch control choice for Constellation.”
