Compact Inductors

HM73 Series surface-mount inductors are molypermalloy powder-based units that are designed to handle up to 40 A. The self-shielding inductors are available in 16 standard ratings ranging from 0.1( to 8.2(H in surface-mount packages. The inductors feature board-mounted profiles of 3.5 to 5.5 mm with footprints as small as 8.5 x 7.5 mm, which makes the compact devices suitable for densely populated circuit boards.

The inductors have a design that uses ultra-thin rectangular wires. This feature is intended to make the conductor density of the coil more than 20 percent higher than that of round core wires and to provide lower dc resistance and higher efficiency. The devices have a dc resistance that ranges from 0.08( to 15.2(, based on ratings. They offer an operating temperature range of -40C to +125C. The inductors have a low-profile package that is compatible with high-speed automatic placement equipment, vapor phase, and IR reflow soldering methods.

Typical prices for the inductors are less than $1 each in volume quantities.
