Coating For Aluminum Alloys

New Diamond-Like Carbon Coating is designed for the dry machining of aluminum alloys. Its low friction coefficient and adhesion resistance make it suitable for cutting tools. Previously, coatings would peel in the first stages of harsh-environment cutting, but this new coating is engineered to maintain its hardness, low friction coefficient, smooth surface, corrosive resistance, and low wear rate.

Aluminum alloy adhesion on the edge can be suppressed even in dry machining, thereby decreasing cutting resistance. Furthermore, generation of a build-up edge is suppressed, maintaining the sharpness of the edge.
