Card-edge Connectors

This line of vertical PCI Express (PCIe) card-edge connectors supports backplane designs based on the SHB Express System Host Board PCI Express Specification. This specification was recently adopted by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG) as its PICMG 1.3 specification document. The connectors at the interface between the System Host Board (SHB) and backplane are x8 and x16 PCIe connectors. The backplane slots, which are designed to interface with PCI Express peripherals, can be supported with x1, x4, x8, and x16 PCIe connector links. The connectors are available with through-hole solder-to-board or press-fit termination options. Press-fit termination versions are well suited for applications where backplane thicknesses exceed 2.36 mm (0.093 in.). Solder and press-fit connectors are available in standard x1, x4, x8, and x16 link widths. Each serial PCI Express lane is comprised of differential transmit and receive signal pairs that support 2.5 Gb/s data rate in each direction. All connectors support SHB Express and PCI Express signal and power requirements as well as auxiliary signals at the interface between the system board and add-in card. RoHS-compliant connector versions compatible with lead-free soldering temperatures are also available. Pricing for the card-edge connectors depends on connector configuration. Typical pricing is less than 1 cent per contact for 2,000 pieces. Samples are available, and lead time from stock is typically six weeks.
