As-interface Gateways

Two new low-profile stainless steel AS-Interface gateways are designed to connect to PROFIBUS DP. Engineers can choose a single AS-Interface version or a double AS-interface version. Both versions are built for networking safety inputs, such as e-stops, door interlocks, and light curtains, using AS-Interface Safety at Work. Designed in accordance with AS-Interface specification 2.11 in IP20, these modular Profibus slaves measure 3.25 in. in height with the Profibus connector attached. The gateways, which are well suited for switch cabinets, feature a rugged stainless steel housing to ensure a long lifespan and enhanced operation in harsh applications. To prevent incorrectly configured nodes, the gateways provide duplicate address detection. A four-line graphic display ensures simple configuration and troubleshooting capabilities. An RS232 port can be used with a running Profibus/AS-Interface network to display additional information. Ground fault detection functionality allows the gateway to continuously monitor the integrity of the AS-Interface network and report undesirable ground faults to the PC or PLC. Engineers can leverage the Profibus configuration tool to adjust the type and amount of data that is transferred via the Profibus. AS-Interface DeviceNet gateways, which connect AS-Interface to upper level controllers, can serve as the core of the wiring system. They provide complete data transfer, cyclically polling all participants connected to the wiring system, and can be placed anywhere in the AS-Interface segment. The single-channel version can handle 248 inputs and 186 outputs over 62 addressable I/O modules. The dual-channel gateway offers more I/O capabilities, with 496 inputs and 372 outputs.
