IP231 analog output industry pack modules are designed to provide up to 16 output channels, each with its own high-resolution 16-bit D/A converter. Simultaneous D/A conversion across all channels enables IP231 units to write sixteen 䔮 V outputs in just 13sec for high-speed processing. Since IP231 modules are single-size mezzanine cards, users can populate a VME, PCI, or CompactPCI mezzanine carrier card with up to five IP231 modules for a single-slot solution with high channel density. This approach preserves card slots for other uses and reduces overall costs. A 16-channel IP231 carries a list price of $1,250 while an 8-channel model is available for $950. Other optional versions offer extended temperature ratings for harsh environments. Individual 16-bit D/A converters are used on each channel because it allows independent programming for maximum speed and accuracy. It also eliminates glitches that may occur on output boards using sample and hold amplifiers multiplexed to a single D/A converter. Users can update each output when it is written to or update all outputs simultaneously. Simultaneous outputs better simulate linear movements in motion processes. With double-buffered data latches, new data can be written to each channel before the simultaneous trigger updates the outputs.
