Amplifier/interconnect Options

Besides custom drive boards, there are several plug-in, multi-axis amplifier boards available for the DMC-21x3 controller. These include the SDM-20240 for driving four stepper motors in full/half-step mode, the SDM-20640 for driving four stepper motors in the microstepping mode, the AMP-20341 for driving four brush-type servo motors up to 20 W, the AMP-20440 for driving four brush-type servos up to 200 W, and the AMP-20540 for driving four brushless or brush servos up to 500 W.

Each of these four-axis amplifier boards attach directly to the 96-pin connector of the controller, eliminating the cabling normally associated with interfacing a multi-axis controller to separate single-axis drives.

If the designer elects to use external amplifiers, the ICM-20100 eases interconnection because it provides d-sub connectors for each axis. The ICM-20105 provides optically isolated I/O in addition to d-sub connectors. The ICM-20100 and ICM-20105 are 4.25 x 3.7 in. and attach directly to the controller’s 96-pin connector.
