29. Liquid/gel Adhesives

Tru Bond 18400 Series liquid and gel formulations become pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) when cured with ultraviolet (UV) light. Parts coated with the cured adhesive can be bonded immediately or stored for assembly later. The resulting bonds provide a balance of peel strength and creep resistance. Tru Bond 18400 Series adhesives provide unlimited "open time" after application, since the joining of two substrates can be put off to a later date. These solvent-free adhesives can be roll-coated, valve-dispensed, sprayed, or screen-printed in a wide range of film thicknesses or bead widths. Curing is instant once the film or bead is exposed to the designated dose of UV light. The cured adhesive is dry to the touch, yet extremely tacky — the surfaces of parts to be stored are typically protected with release paper.
