24. Pressure Gauge

The Xmitr is a single pressure measuring device that serves as both a dial pressure gauge (for local reading) and a pressure transmitter that outputs a signal to a remote data acquisition device. This is accomplished through a design that employs a circuit board with two embedded sensing coils and standard PC board processes. A “flag” is attached to the Bourdon tube tip so that when the Bourdon tube is pressurized, the flag moves across these coils covering one while uncovering the other. The flag disrupts the lines of flux from the coils, allowing the circuit to accurately sense the Bourdon tube location. By combining the attributes of a dial pressure gauge with an analog output transmitter, the Xmitr offers considerable savings over traditional installations where a separate gauge and transducer are required.
