Oct. Crude Steel Output in Japan Down 6.7%

TOKYO - Crude steel production in Japan fell 6.7 percent in October from a year earlier to 8.84 million tons, declining for the second consecutive month, as the nation's deteriorating relationship with China affected exports, an industry body said Monday.

A decrease in orders from Japanese automakers, whose production in China faltered, contributed to the drop, the Japan Iron and Steel Federation said.
