An airplane parts manufacturing plant in Milledgeville has announced an expansion that's expected to add up to 250 jobs.

Gov. Nathan Deal said Wednesday that Triumph Aerostructures-Vought Aircraft Division plans to invest about $17 million in the expansion.

The company is a subsidiary of Pennsylvania-based Triumph Group Inc., which acquired Vought Aircraft Industries in 2010.

A news release says the Triumph Aerostructures' facility in Milledgeville will carry out work awarded by the Boeing Co. in 2009 for the 777 and the 787 Dreamliner commercial airplanes. The facility makes a variety of composite parts for the 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The company says it plans to expand its current 622,000-square-foot building by adding another 60,000 square feet.
