York Telecom Corporation, a leading global provider of visual communications services and solutions, today announced an agreement with Savvis Inc. to provide a complete Cisco TelePresence service to enterprise customers. York Telecom will provide the Cisco TelePresence installation, management, maintenance and Savvis will provide the network components.
Cisco TelePresence creates a live, face-to-face communication experience over the network that empowers people to collaborate like never before. Cisco TelePresence helps people meet, share content, create high-quality video recordings and events, consult with experts and deliver powerful personalized services, all using the power of the network for an immersive in-person experience.
The two companies have bundled together a complete managed Cisco TelePresence service, built around Savvis' world-class Application Transport Services (ATS). Savvis' ATS provides network visibility and advanced Quality of Service (QoS) controls optimized for video and voice applications. In addition to certification for Cisco TelePresence transport, ATS offers network embedded security and end-to-end management.
The teaming between Savvis and York Telecom in support of the managed Cisco TelePresence service is a natural progression. "By combining a best-in-class solution, such as Cisco TelePresence, with Savvis' world-class network, York Telecom is working to make Cisco TelePresence a service that is easily integrated, deployed and managed in most client environments," said Ron Gaboury, President of York Telecom.
"Video communications continues to grow in importance, as companies cut back on travel expenses and raise the bar on employee productivity," added Dennis Brouwer, vice president and general manager, Global Network Solutions for Savvis. "At the same time, enterprises are shifting away from do-it-yourself models and toward selective outsourcing to best-of-breed managed service providers."
"York Telecom and Savvis have created a simplified, relevant managed Cisco TelePresence service option for small or medium-sized organizations," said Charles Stucki, vice president and general manager, Cisco TelePresence Systems Business Unit. "We are pleased to welcome another service offering to market to provide our customers more robust options for collaboration."
York Telecom is a Cisco TelePresence Authorized Technology Provider, signifying it has invested in obtaining the required expertise, intellectual property and lifecycle services capabilities to deliver the Cisco TelePresence experience. York Telecom further supports this effort by delivering their world class managed services designed specifically to support a Cisco TelePresence environment. York's Managed Conferencing Services allow the customer to focus on their business initiatives and not the technology.
