Worker dies at John Deere plant in Waterloo
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Police say an employee of an electrical company was apparently electrocuted while working at a Deere & Co. plant in Waterloo.
Capt. John Beckman says 22-year-old Daniel Gerdman, of Waterloo, died on Tuesday while working at the foundry division of the John Deere Waterloo Works.
Beckman said Wednesday that Gerdman, an employee of Black Hawk Electric, was apparently electrocuted while working on some lighting.
He was found unconscious at 11:30 a.m. Gerdman was taken to a hospital where he pronounced dead.
Deere spokesman Ken Goldman says the company is cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
