Eaton To Provide Hydraulic Cylinders For National Flood-Control Project

Eden Prairie, MN –Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has announced it has secured a major hydraulic cylinder contract for one of Japan’s largest flood-control projects on the Shinano River that flows from Nagano to Niigata in Northern Japan.

IHI Corporation of Tokyo, Japan, has contracted Eaton to supply 20 cylinders to open and close large barrage gates, which will control and regulate water levels to prevent flooding and support critical irrigation infrastructure for agriculture. The cylinders will be manufactured at Eaton’s Eindhoven, Netherlands, facility and will feature Eaton’s advanced ceramic-coated rods and Hypos position sensor system.

“Eaton’s important new business with IHI demonstrates the advantages we can provide the civil construction industry in Japan and around the world,” says Noriyuki Kimata, President of Eaton Fluid Power Japan.

“It illustrates Eaton’s focus and expertise in providing sustainable and responsible power management solutions for civil construction, hydropower, water management, irrigation and other environmental projects that help our customers meet critical environmental needs.”
