ATA Defense Selects QSI’s QTERM-G58 For Remote Control Targeting Systems

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — February 26, 2010 – QSI's wireless handheld QTERM-G58 was just selected by ATA Defense Industries, an industry leader in automated targeting systems for military and commercial use, to remotely control target systems for military training.

The QTERM-G58 is used to remotely control up to 1000 targets simultaneously at distances up to 4 miles away.

Other functions include:

  • Programming multiple scenarios for live-fire training.
  • Remotely detonating battle effects simulators.
  • Activating motion detection devices.
  • Displaying scores from the target systems.
  • A backlit keypad and bright color display that allow night operations or low-visibility scenarios.

“All of our equipment has to be ruggedized, able to withstand every climate, and must perform flawlessly in order to support the training efforts of our military,” says Labe Ezell, Director of Training and Sales at ATA Defense. “The QTERM-G58 holds up to the abuse our systems take. It definitely has been well-received by all of our end-users that were previously stuck with our old controllers.”

QSI’s QTERM-G58 is a wireless, battery-powered handheld graphic HMI with a transflective sunlight readable LCD display measuring 89 mm (3.5") diagonal.

Features include Windows Embedded CE 6.0, a 200 MHz processor, resistive touch screen and a 24- or 40-key keypad.

The QTERM-G58 has been designed to survive in all environments and withstand high levels of shock, vibration, temperature, humidity, ESD and is NEMA-4 rated and CE Certified.

“We are excited that the QTERM-G58 proved to be an excellent solution for ATA Defense Industries,” says Glen Johnson, Director of Industrial Sales at QSI Corporation. “With its proven ruggedness and wireless capabilities, the QTERM-G58 complements ATA Defense Industries’ durable targeting equipment.”

“We are extremely pleased with the support and technology that QSI has continued to provide us with,” continues Ezell. “We look forward to another successful year of incorporating the QTERM-G58 into our efforts of supporting the realistic training environment that we create for our troops.”
