Werner Enterprises to pay special dividend

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Trucking company Werner Enterprises Inc. said Tuesday its board authorized payment of a quarterly cash dividend of 5 cents per share and announced a special cash dividend of $1.25 per common share.

The special payout of $90 million will be made Dec. 8 to stockholders of record at the close of business on Nov. 23. Werner also paid a special cash dividend of $2.10 per common share in December 2008.

The regular quarterly dividend will be paid Jan. 26 to shareholders of record at Jan 11. The dividend amount remains unchanged from the previous quarter.

Shares rose 2 cents to close earlier at $19.16.
