Somanetics signs licensing deal with Raba Equity

TROY, Mich. (AP) — Medical device maker Somanetics Corp. said Wednesday it signed a licensing deal with Raba Equity Partners II LLC, gaining diagnostic monitoring technology for $1.8 million in upfront payments, plus future royalties.

Under the deal, the company acquired an exclusive sublicense to cerebral autoregulation monitoring technology developed at The Johns Hopkins University. Cerebral autoregulation refers to the body's ability to maintain constant blood flow to the brain despite changes in blood pressure.

Shares of Somanetics rose 5 cents to $16.72 in midday trading.
