An energy company that operates several coal-fired power plants in the U.S. has agreed to put more information about global warming in its public financial disclosures.
New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that Virginia-based AES is the latest in a string of power companies that have agreed to give investors more information about pollution.
Among other things, the company will be disclosing information on its current carbon emissions and any planned increases in pollution from its coal-burning plants.
Other companies have already agreed to make similar disclosures, including Dynegy, Inc. and Xcel Energy.
