MONTREAL — Former Air Canada (TSX:AC.B) CEO Montie Brewer has been named to the board of Allegiant Air's parent company, a U.S. based travel operator.
Brewer resigned March 31, seven years after joining the Montreal-based airline.
He previously worked at United Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Republic Airlines, Braniff and Trans World Airlines. Brewer planned and developed more than 20 hub operations worldwide and managed low cost airline operations as president of Shuttle by United.
Allegiant Travel Company chief executive and chairman Maurice Gallagher said the Las Vegas-based business will benefit from having on board one of the airline industry's foremost strategists.

"Montie Brewer, who I have known professionally for over two decades, is particularly noted for his command of airline revenue models and for mentoring a generation of airline planning personnel," he stated.
Under his leadership, Air Canada became the North American leader in pricing innovation, Gallagher added.
Low-cost Allegiant flies travellers in small cities to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa.
Among its customers are Canadians in border cities, such as Montreal, who travel one hour to catch flights from Plattsburgh, N.Y.
