Corcept hires new chief financial officer

Drug developer Corcept Therapeutics Inc. said Monday that Gary C. Robb will join the company as chief financial officer on Sept. 1.

Corcept said Robb was previously in charge of operations, administration and finance at Fitness Anywhere Inc., a fitness equipment and training company. Former Chief Financial Officer Caroline Loewy left Corcept earlier this year.

Corcept's main drug candidate is Corlux, a potential treatment for the disease Cushing's Syndrome. Cushing's Syndrome is caused when tumors cause a person's body to produce too much of the hormone cortisol. Its symptoms can include high blood sugar, high blood pressure, fatigue, and muscle weakness. Corcept said about 20,000 people in the U.S. have the condition.

The company expects the Food and Drug Administration to make a decision on its marketing application for Corlux by Feb. 17, 2012.
