Convergys Corp. to build call center in Jamaica

Jamaica's industry minister says a U.S.-based global outsourcing company plans to build a call center next year that is expected to employ 1,000 workers.

Christopher Tufton says Convergys Corp. of Cincinnati, Ohio, will put the $20 million project in the popular tourist region of Montego Bay.

Tufton said Wednesday that call centers in Jamaica currently employ about 11,500 workers.
