Breakwater Resources Ltd. Announces Executive Change

The board of directors of Breakwater Resources Ltd. (TSX: BWR)(TSX: BWR.WT.A) announced today that David M. Petroff has been appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer to replace George Pirie who has resigned from the Company, effective immediately.

The board of directors would like to take this opportunity to thank George for his contributions to the Company and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Breakwater plans to take this opportunity to carefully review the strategic direction of the Company. David Petroff's broad experience in mining and well developed executive skills will be instrumental in the future success of the Company.

The scheduled conference call for November 6, 2009 to discuss the financial and operating results of the third quarter will proceed as planned at 10:00 a.m. EST.
