3Dconnexion 3D Mice Help Extend The Power Of Dassault Systèmes’ CATIA V6R2010

Fremont, CA– 3Dconnexion has announced that its full line of 3D mice, including the SpacePilot PRO flagship 3D mouse, are now supported by Dassault Systèmes’ CATIA Version 6 Release 2010, the company’s latest virtual design solution. 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice help engineers working in CATIA V6R2010 interact with and collaborate on designs more efficiently.

In addition to the increased control and navigation benefits inherent in 3Dconnexion 3D mice, the SpacePilot PRO 3D mouse also complements the collaborative engineering and improved efficiency focus of CATIA V6R2010, with features designed to help engineers save time and reduce interruptions in their design workflows.

Its QuickView Navigation keys offer designers easy access to 32 standard views, allowing CATIA users and workgroups to instantly view a design from any angle for improved error detection and design review and verification, while its full-color LCD Workflow Assistant lists function-key assignments and delivers at-a-glance access to important information.

“The new SpacePilot PRO is a must-have tool for design engineers working in the latest release of CATIA,” says Dieter Neujahr, president of 3Dconnexion.

“This hardware-software combination delivers a powerful solution to the MCAD community and dramatically impacts how professionals interact within the CATIA V6R2010 virtual workspace. Whether designing a cargo ship, building custom plane configurations, or bringing a new vehicle to market, designers can use our 3D mice with CATIA to further streamline their Product Lifecycle Management workflows.”

For added productivity, 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice and new SpacePilot PRO are also pre-configured with the most commonly used commands for CATIA, however, design engineers also have the flexibility to further customize the programmable buttons to suit their personal workflow needs using CATIA’s built-in button mapping editor.

In addition, 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice allow engineers to navigate and control their designs more naturally and intuitively when working with the new direct modeling and visualization enhancements featured in CATIA V6R2010. With less time spent toggling views and commands within CATIA, users are left with more time for the creative elements of a design.

“The new innovations and capabilities featured in CATIA V6R2010 are designed to streamline development cycles and real-time collaboration, and the SpacePilot PRO 3D mouse echoes that priority with features that help engineers save time and reduce interruptions in their design workflows,” says Tom Schorr, global technology partner programs, Dassault Systèmes.

“A more efficient workflow leads to quicker time-to-market and, ultimately, a successful product. That simple equation makes it an easy decision for design engineers to integrate 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice into their CATIA design workflows.”
