Aras (Andover, MA) has announced the launch of a new solution designed specifically for companies that run SolidWorks. Aras Enterprise PLM (Aras EPLM) for SolidWorks Enterprise PDM provides packaged functionality out-of-the-box for corporate-wide PLM business processes, enabling global companies that run SolidWorks to improve product quality, accelerate time to market and achieve greater profitability.

It extends Enterprise PDM to drive PLM processes throughout a company and its supply chain for collaboration across organizations including product development, operations, quality, purchasing, sales & marketing and other groups worldwide.

"Together Aras Enterprise PLM and SolidWorks Enterprise PDM provide the ideal solution for us to streamline and simplify process complexity throughout the company," says Dave Baer, IT Project Manager at Spartan Motors. "Aras allows our SolidWorks users to maintain their current design practices without disruption and extend our processes for cross functional coordination."

"We've been working with SolidWorks users for years and know that SolidWorks Enterprise PDM is by far the best CAD file manager for those designers. Companies are looking for a way to keep what's working and preserve their investment while they address cross-functional, enterprise-wide PLM business processes," says Peter Schroer, President of Aras. "So, we've taken our open source PLM solutions, included new out-of-the-box functionality that connects directly to EPDM, and packaged it all up to create a totally new commercial offering that's optimized for companies that run SolidWorks."

Easy-to-Use & Powerful

Web-browser screens with a familiar Microsoft look and feel make the application easy to learn and use for everyone, and the highly flexible pure Web architecture includes powerful scalability, robust security and multi-site replication for deployments with users located around the world.

"Our engineers have been screaming for something like this. We have a deep product structure on some of our product lines and this will significantly increase productivity and quality. Aras EPLM for SolidWorks Enterprise PDM makes a lot of sense," says Kevin Friske, Database Administrator at MiTek Corporation. "We also like the fact that everything with Aras is on Microsoft SQL Server, and since its 100 percent browser-based, its easy-to-use for people at multiple sites."

Business Ready Out-Of-The-Box

Item-based and process-oriented, Aras EPLM is designed for the most demanding and complex PLM requirements.

Comprehensive multi-CAD capabilities include NX, Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Inventor, AutoCAD and more, as well as, EDA systems such as Allegro, OrCAD, DxDesigner / DxDatabook, PADS, Expedition, Altium, Zuken CR-5000 and others.
