Integrating Scan-Based Design with Inspection Solutions

Integrated 3D Geomagic scanner and software offer instant ‘scan-to-CAD’

3D Systems has announced Geomagic Capture, a family of integrated desktop scanner and software tools for scan-based design and inspection.

Geomagic Capture is available in six configurations. Each package includes a compact, ultra-precise, blue light LED scanner directly integrated with Geomagic software.

Streamlined Simulation Process

Motor Design Limited (MDL) has teamed up with CD-adapco to create a link between MDL’s Motor-CAD and CD-adapco’s STAR-CCM+ software.

This collaboration aims to improve the accuracy of a fast analytical approach, while simplifying the modeling process of the CFD computation by combining Motor-CAD’s analytical air flow and heat transfer transient calculations with the detail and accuracy of STAR-CCM+ flow calculations. A simple interface enables users to transfer the Motor-CAD geometry into STAR-CCM+ within seconds.

Board Design Support for HMI Solutions

Reducing BOM cost, PCB area, and power requirements for shorter implementation design time.

Altium Limited has released PCB design content for Altium Designer users supporting the FTDI FT800 family of HMI solutions.

The FT800 family, with its EVE (Embedded Video Engine) Technology, combines display, audio and touch in a single chip. The content release includes live supply chain solutions providing an accurate picture of overall project BOM cost, and assisting in sourcing the components quickly.

Altium Designer subscriber’s gain access to Altium’s content vault, which includes board design support for more than 140,000 components from Linear Technology, Analog Devices, Texas Instruments, Microchip, Maxim, and more.

Building & Debugging Embedded Systems

Embedded development toolchain delivers leading benchmark results for Texas Instruments’ MSP430 core.

IAR Embedded Workbench for MSP430 is a complete set of tools for building and debugging embedded systems based on the 16-bit MSP430 microcontroller family. IAR Embedded Workbench includes a C/C++ compiler and a comprehensive debugger.

EEMBC CoreMark results published by Texas Instruments depict a score of 27.70 CoreMarks running at 25 MHz, resulting in a normalized score of 1.1 CoreMark/MHz. Compared to previous results for MSP430, the scores are increased by around 40 percent.
