Upgrade Supports Electromechanical And Detailed Design

PTC, The Product Development Company®, has announced the availability of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0—a major release of their integrated 3-D CAD/CAM/CAE software and a key component of the PTC® Product Development System.

According to the company, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 offers new capabilities and usability enhancements that include:

  • Auto Round™ technology, which can help save time with automated rounding of even complex features.
  • Improved automated and optimized large assembly file management using simplified representations to reduce memory consumption by 40 percent.
  • The automatic display of dimensions in 3-D drawings, which increases design information reuse and delivers production-ready drawings.
  • The ability to publish and access saved 3-D drawing views in PTC ProductView™.
  • The capability to directly edit surfaces, including multi-resolution editing and smoothing.
  • Quicker removal of round and hole geometry to prepare designs for mold making or simplify designs for analysis.
  • The new Pro/ENGINEER Tolerance Analysis extension powered by CETOL Technology-this module quickly analyzes geometric tolerances and variances directly in the CAD model.
  • A new feature recognition tool that quickly converts imported geometries to features.
  • An enhanced Import DataDoctor™-data repair capabilities and an easy-to-use interface dramatically improve the ability to reuse legacy and third-party data.
  • Upgraded processors, which allow users to better leverage other CAD data, publish Pro/ENGINEER data in 3-D PDFs and import exact product representations from ProductView.
  • The Pro/ENGINEER Rights Management extension that persistently and dynamically protects valuable design intellectual property enabling additional levels of security when collaborating across and beyond the enterprise.
  • Facilitated simulation that helps users analyze designs faster and easier with smart diagnostics, improved meshing, better assembly connectivity management and analysis of results.
  • The simplified and automated transformation of engineering designs into manufacturing processes with an easy-to-use process manager for toolpath definition, annotation features and other key capabilities.
  • An automated capability to add and route ribbon cables.
  • The Pro/ENGINEER ECAD-MCAD Collaboration extension, which accelerates electromechanical design with a new interface between MCAD and ECAD designs-users can automatically identify incremental changes, and cross-highlight between MCAD and ECAD board designs.
