The SUPB tension transducer is said to offer extra-robust performance characteristics and is intended to replace the company's standard UPBV-style transducers in high-load (800 to 5,000 lb.) web applications. The transducer measures process web tension in industrial winding and converting applications.
When used in a pair, the transducers are secured, one on each side of a web-machine frame, under pillow blocks that support a dead-shaft or live-shaft idler roll. The SUPB pair should sense tension on the idler roll as the web passes over it. By feeding a voltage signal proportional to tension to an amplifier, indicator, or controller, the transducers should help the machine operator to improve the consistency and quality of products in the converting, pulp and paper, and boxboard industries.
The SUPB is said to offer the following design improvements over the UPBV: a bored solid-block internal design for added strength, parallel sensing-beam construction, and a reduced overload stop gap that allows an accurate tension signal output with 80 percent reduced deflection. It is also overload protected to 15,000 lbs. from any direction that force is applied.
The product can be mounted in any orientation and is available in two sizes with load ratings up to 5,000 lbs. It is designed to be virtually maintenance-free, and is constructed of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and aluminum. It is described as lifetime-lubricated.
