COSMOSDesignSTAR 4.0, a multiCAD analysis program, offers increased speed and memory management for its solvers, as well as multiprocessor support for its sparse solver. The program comes with meshing tools that automatically reduce element size in cases where a first pass fails to mesh and offers several ways to refine a mesh as well as a diagnostic tool that flags problems in a model's geometry.
In addition, a sketching tool makes it possible for engineers to create their own 2D profiles and cross sections. Users can also take advantage of the program's ability to handle 2D axisymmetric elements for analyzing solids with axes of revolution, along with plane stress and strain for parts like dams and I-beams. COSMOSDesignSTAR 4.0 can also simulate real-life loads, including shrink fit and rigid connections, remote loads, and thermal contact resistance. Engineers can make simple geometry changes with the program's interface.
The program is fully associative with Autodesk Inventor, Solid Edge, and SolidWorks. It also reads geometry files from popular solid modeling packages like CATIA, Pro/Engineer, CADKEY, and IDEAS.
