Snap Action Military Switches

A line of snap action switches that meet military specifications for high shock and vibration environments offers models in a wide variety of configurations and electrical ratings. Suited for ac or dc power, the switches have quick make-and-break action (with about 10-ms contact transfer time) that's independent of the operator.

Standard models are available with up to 12 poles and four positions. The ends of the stationary contacts extend outside the insulating disks to serve as connecting terminals, minimizing resistance and heating. The switches also have fully enclosed decks and glass-alkyd moldings that separate the contacts. Also, standard double-wiping contacts cut resistance.

Contact styles include non-shorting (break before make), shorting (make before break), or sweep (connected to the rotor through consecutive positions). Rotor blades can be simple, right-angle, or multi-fingered. Also available are spring-return, motor-driven, and ganged models as are solenoid locks, tandem configurations, waterproof mounts, engraved nameplates, and a wide variety of handles.
