Featuring a multi-anode configuration in a standard "E" (7343-43) case package, new Niobium Oxide Multi-anode (NOM) capacitors have been designed to deliver low-ESR, high-capacitance, high-ripple current capacitor performance. Designated the OxiCap Series, this family of lead-free capacitors offers design engineers a safe (non-burning) high-resistance failure mode. In addition, the capacitors are said to solve the problems of capacitance drop and dc leakage that are encountered with aluminum electrolytics. A single OxiCap capacitor exhibits ESR values that normally require up to 10 aluminum capacitors to achieve. At the same time, these surface-mount capacitors boast high capacitance values with a more rugged construction and production capability than alternative solutions that are more susceptible to thermal and mechanical shock. Applications for the OxiCap Series include power supply decoupling and high-speed data processing where very high capacitance and ultra low ESR are required. Typical pricing is about $2.55 each in quantities of 10,000 to 100,000.
