Newark Introduces ''one-stop'' Research Portal For Design Engineers And $100,000 Bounty

Newark, a multi-channel distributor of electronic components, test equipment and RoHS compliant solutions in the Americas, has announced the launch of a centralized, technical research portal for design engineers named Electronics Design World (www.newark.com/edworld). 'ED World' eliminates the need for engineers to visit multiple websites and perform numerous searches in order to find current application notes and research multiple design approaches, solutions and new products.

"ED World is committed to becoming the design engineer's go-to source for the most useful, relevant and timely information," says Jeff Shafer, Senior VP, Product, Newark. "As a distributor with more than 440 top electronics suppliers on our roster, we're in the right position to continually gather, publish and refresh critical data."

ED World's Design Center contains links to the latest application notes, white papers and block diagrams from leading manufacturers, cross-indexed to facilitate the comparison of design solutions from multiple brands. Supplier reference designs will soon be available, complete with Newark sourced bills of material in downloadable spreadsheet formats, to simplify prototype development, component selection and purchasing.

At the site's News Center, engineers can keep up with the latest industry news, including new product launches. The Legislation Center offers guidance on compliance with world-wide regulations that affect the design process.

In another recent move in support of design engineers, Newark's parent company Premier Farnell, has launched a major $100,000 international design competition called 'Live Edge' – Electronic Design for the Global Environment. Registration and other details are available at www.live-edge.com/info.
